UNICEF’s comprehensive database for child-related data in Europe and Central Asia
Data plays a vital role in UNICEF's child rights monitoring work, enabling informed decision-making and enhancing our understanding of the challenges faced by children in the Europe and Central Asia region. The TransMonEE database serves as a centralized repository, consolidating over 800 indicators from a range of international databases. These indicators are organized into 35 subdomains aligned with the ECA CRM Framework.
The database predominantly consists of time-series data which allows for the identification of trends and patterns over time. This longitudinal perspective enhances the understanding of progress and persisting challenges in promoting child rights in the region. The database also aims to disaggregate information by sex, age, residence (urban/rural), and wealth quintile whenever feasible, and by analyzing data through these lenses, stakeholders can identify disparities and inequalities and tailor interventions accordingly. Leveraging the power of application programming interfaces (APIs), the database ensures timely and accurate updates.
