UNICEF’s comprehensive database for child-related data in Europe and Central Asia

Data plays a vital role in UNICEF's child rights monitoring work, enabling informed decision-making and enhancing our understanding of the challenges faced by children in the Europe and Central Asia region. The TransMonEE Regional Database for Children serves as a centralized repository, consolidating over 900 indicators from a range of international databases. These indicators are organized into 35 subdomains aligned with the ECA CRM Framework.

The database mainly consists of time-series data which allows identification of trends over time. This longitudinal perspective enhances the understanding of progress and persisting challenges in promoting child rights in the region.  The database also aims to disaggregate information by sex, age, residence (urban/rural), and wealth quintile whenever feasible, and by analysing data through these lenses, stakeholders can identify disparities and inequalities and tailor interventions accordingly. Leveraging the power of application programming interfaces (APIs), the database ensures timely and accurate updates. Designed to meet the information needs of UNICEF's regional office and country offices in the ECA region and other stakeholders invested in children's rights, the TransMonEE Database serves as a comprehensive knowledge hub, facilitating evidence-based decision-making and providing valuable insights into child rights issues.

Below, you will find options to begin exploring the TransMonEE Database. Select a sub-domain of the ECA CRM Framework or perform a text search for a specific indicator. Once an indicator is selected, you will be brought to a table with the data for in-depth analysis and exploration. If no data shows for a particular indicator, try increasing the range of the year filter.

For advanced users seeking automated data access, our TransMonEE Database API is available, with detailed instructions on its utilization here.
