Every Right Counts
Data stories on child inequities in Europe and Central Asia
Every Right Counts is a new series that uses disaggregated data to show which children are being left behind across the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region. Each story focuses on a different aspect of child rights — from nutrition and education to protection and inclusion — using data from the TransMonEE Database and the ECA Child Inequity Database.
The series draws on valuable household survey data, including Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) data, which allow for detailed disaggregation by factors such as age, wealth, location and more. This level of granularity helps expose hidden inequalities and provides critical insights to inform more inclusive policies and programmes.
Through accessible visualisations and short, insight-driven narratives, the series aims to turn complex data into powerful stories that support action on child rights across the region.
The first story, The diet divide, explores which young children are getting the variety of foods they need to thrive — and which groups are still missing out. The second story, Who misses out on immunization?, highlights which children across the region are more likely to miss out on life-saving vaccines.
Additional stories will be added throughout the year.
